Mugwump mocking mental illness for a second time -

"You are mentally ill and I can't indulge your madness any more"

Utter disgusting abusive remark from a keyboard warrior

Defence : Sat Apr 26, 2014 3:39 pm
I don't think I've seen a saints team drop off so many tackles. Basic one on one tackles as well! Our edge defence is also completely and utterly awful.

I commented after 3 games how poor our defence was and I was shot down ( Harry Pinner I think it was). I honestly don't think I've seen a team so lacking in putting their body in the line.

The heart and desire in defence is so poor it's unreal.

Also, I would never play LMS or Jordan Turner again. They are two shop ponies and lack commitment in a saints shirt. Both to soft and no desire.

I'd pack LMS off to Cumbria for the rest of the season.

Whilst I agree with your general point, there's nothing like scapegoating on 2 players.

Let's not mention Percival, who missed 2 fairly routine tackles (well 1 because he made the complete wrong read on 1 of them) that led to 2 tries. Or numerous attempts by Walsh on Ablett that led to them racing down field.

It's a team wide problem. Not just the scapegoats. Our technique seems very poor, and the way we read the game on the fringes is costing us dear.

I think a lot of our defensive problems are stemming from a complete failure to control the speed of the play the ball. Our opponents keep getting quick plays on tackles 1 & 2 and we tend to be backtracking from there on. But our decision making on the edges is looking ropey.

That might be a cause but some of them one on one misses are utterly disgusting. I'm ashamed to be saints fan watching that.

Percival is a young, inexperienced player who is just back from injury. The other two are seasoned first teamers and persistent offenders who clearly do not have the heart or ability to play at this level.

Percival may be young inexperienced and just back from injury. Doesn't make him any less responsible for making tackles and correct reads when on the pitch. If he wasn't capable of making the correct decisions he shouldn't be in the side.

Notice no mention of Walsh. They were just 2 examples, I bet if I put myself through watching that again, I could find an example of everyone in the team poor arm grabbing instead of tackling.

That's my point. Let's not scapegoat here. It's a whole team problem.

I think you can include Johnny Lomax he's struggling to read the game lately, one think Wello had was this built in Radar when the opposition attack develops. We are also atrocious defending a high kick no players running back to shield the taker.
Also I can't remember when we last controlled a game, its all down to attitude and work ethic which has gone missing for over a couple of months now..........Brown and Cunningham needs to get it fixed quickly.

Lomax was poor defensively against Wigan, but he didn't do too bad today. His big problem at the moment is being shrugged off the tackle. I have no doubt wellens (even 2012 model) would of stopped Leeds' first try where he was in the perfect position to hold him up.

As Dux said, were letting opposition play far quicker than us, which is leading to us being disorganised and grabbing not tackling across the park. It gets compounded by when we tackle as the same speed as the opposition we get penalised.
