I am genuinely confused as to what he will do on Thursday. He said in the press that Turner will start the season at 6, but then went on to say Wheeler is the best 6 at the club and whenever he is fit he will play.

So he'll probably start with Wellens.

Reading between the lines I think it's clear he favours Wheeler for the 6 role, but doesn't want to write off the other options as he may have to use them there if Wheels can't stay fit.

I think it's just a bit of man management: not putting too much pressure on Wheeler and not saying Lance didn't work so he won't be playing there this year, in the knowledge that he may have to.

It seems like Brown puts very little thought into what comes out of his mouth to the press.

FWIW, my selection policy at #6 would be as follows -
1. Wheeler (for at least a week)
2. Wilkin
3. Charnock
4. Lomax, with Hohaia, Swift of Makinson playing #1

I could just about stomach one of Wellens and Hohaia on the bench on Thursday. I wouldn't like it but I reckon I could live with it. If both of them are there then I would seriously seriously question whether Brown has a clue what he is doing.

To me it just reads as though he is saying to the players, it's all up for grabs. Just because you don't get picked this week does not mean it will remain the same.

If you want players playing for places, you can't expect the coach to come out and say well x,y and z are my first choice. It basically lets those players settle and gives the rest nothing to aim for.

Some fans want it both ways, they want the best line up naming -as we have already seen on these boards and they want players to be fit come the end of the season, which means there will need to be variation and rotation.

For me only 9,7 and 1 are garaunteed a spot, the rest will need to play for places. Sure some are in poll position, but if they went through a bad run of games then they should feel the pressure from below them to be set aside for a few games.

You guys should learn from whats happened to us, the league season means nothing if you lose at Old Trafford. There's nothing worse than losing the big one, if you ever get to a major final you don't want to go through that. I've just had it happen to my NFL team Denver Broncos in Superbowl as well.

yes, i can't imagine how much it hurts to lose in a final
