Rather than a main sponsor would it be more appealing to businesses to sponsor individual rounds. Like this weekends round could be cheap are there are no massive games and say the easter/magic round could be more expensive. Just a thought. ..

It's a decent idea, but I think Sponsors want to build brand recognition and so that may be tricky over 1 round.

I'm not saying it's not worth doing, but having to change all the paraphernalia each week, may end up making a deal cost more than it earns.

I like the idea of several partners rather than a headline sponsor as it gives us more of a corporate outlook and means we don't have all our eggs in one basket so to speak.

I'm not saying the idea is not worth trying, but it would need a little creativity about how you are going to push the name of the sponsor for that weekend, with out huge reprinting costs etc.

Even something like a beer partner has issues as each club has it's own deals, such as Saints Gold.

It maybe possible to sell parts of the season, ie the opening 13 games, the next 13 games and then the playoffs.

Someone like Robinsons Brewery would ideal. They could then brew a different ale for each team.

You'd end up selling the rights dirt cheap as there would be little worth in any brand recognition.

I think the marketing department at the RFL has been shown up as pretty much incompetent time and time again, even with their limited resources.

Agree, plus the fact we (the fans) are continually telling all and sundry what a crap competition it is. Would you put your money it something like that when it's main stakeholders are deserting it in droves?

No, we agree on that too. RL fans moaning about the game the way that they do more harm than any RU journo can.

You can hardly blame fans for moaning when things are broken. The RFL run the game, they need to listen to players and fans rather than just making things up for no good reason. Shoulder Charge is great example of a change implemented without any consultation.

No.
We had two really good games Wire v Widnes and Leeds v Wire on t.v. and all we got from the fans was that they didn't really matter, it's the playoffs that count.

Yet when the playoffs arrive theses self same fans can't be arsed attending.

The thing is they dont really matter. So you dont think the RFL making up new rules or changing interpretations at will is damaging to the sport? RL is far more boring now than back in the 90's
