The return of the back on the bench policy?

Not such a bad thing in this instance, as Gaskell can go in at 6 and Lance can spell with Roby at hooker. Whether this will happen remains to be seen, though.

It's definitely a small step in the right direction in terms of Gaskell getting back in the team. Be interesting to see if they employ the same policy that got Royce slated though and leave him there for 70 minutes.

Not an issue as long as the 'back' is actually used for more than 2 minutes

I'm not entirely against the back on the bench, it's the fact Royce never put them on or only give them 8 mins at the end.

If I was picking the team, I'd always have four forwards on the bench, these days players are multi skilled and can slot in to other postions.

I just hope we don't let 16 guys run their blood to water while Gaskell sits on his backside for 72 mins.

It seems we are just trying to accomadate lance hohaia when IMO he should just be dropped.

Not an issue so long as it is not used dogmatically and the back is picked to play an actual role in the game rather than to be used as an insurance policy.

Hope there is a plan in place and not just we'll see how we go and if it still looks shocking at halfback we'll thow gaskell on somewhere and see if he can pull something out of the bag.
