With all the talk of the players being back in pre-season training, does anyone know the latest on Shenton.

The injury looked pretty serious at the time, but I can't seem to remember the prognosis!

Is he back in training or is he still recovering, also will he fit for the start of the new season?

According to Saints on Facebook last week, Shenton is now 'all good'. What that means exactly I don't know! But maybe the nerve damage has settled and his elbow has now healed?

Soliola on Twitter this week said that Paul Wellens has been in for an operation, presumably on his achilles injury, since that is what kept him away from the training session at Langtree Park last Friday night. That doesn't sound so good and if it is his achilles then chances are he won't be fit for the new season, given how long Gardner was out with his achilles injury.

The problem with Achilles injuries is that they ruin your speed.

It will also force Simmons' hand into utilising other players at FB, which will give us a good idea as to who is going to step up and be Wello's long term replacement.

It's never good going into the season with injuries, but I'm confident we've got the resources to cover at FB.

lance or lomax will play full back if wello aint fit with gaskell playing in the half

Nah. It'll be Lance or Makinson at fullback, not Lomax. He's our 7 and that's where he'll play unless we're down to nobody left. I hope it would be Makinson providing cover rather than Lance. After having a terrific season in 2011, I'd hate for Makinson to be cooling his heels in the u20s during 2012.

royce is going have to fit gaskell in somewhere cause lance or johnny aint got a kicking game so for me one of them two plays full back if wellens aint
fit

I would love to see Makinson given a go at FB. That's my choice.
