FORMER Castleford star and schoolmaster John Kear may be unable to keep hold of latest pupil Ben Fisher. Kear, now Batley Bulldogs' head coach, thought he had landed a real head boy last Saturday when Fisher, 30, signed in from Hull KR, where he played 165 games. Hope he can play PROP otherwise i don't know why Royce would want him?

Why would we be intrested in ben fisher the only reason I can think is cover for roby but surely lance can play hooker if roby gets injured with gaskell lomax or wheeler starting half backs

Seeing as he has signed for Batley,I imagine he is very cheap, which is why we are interested.

He's a decent player, Fisher, but it would be an odd signing. If it was on the understanding that it was purely back-up for 1 season, and he was very cheap, then I suppose I could handle the idea.

It is Dave Parker, though, so I'm awaiting a dumptruck to deliver all the salt with which I'm going to take this news.

I know exactly where this story has come from, and unfortunately - as with most of Nosy Parker's 'gossip', the source is incorrect and the product of a Chinese whisper. In the Batley News sports section yesterday, it was reported that Saints HAD expressed an interest in Ben Fisher, but that he had opted for Batley due to travelling reasons. Although I'm delighted that we've signed him, I genuinely don't believe that, had St.Helens really been interested, he would have opted for Batley over them!!!

Exactly, so we've got Roby, Lance, Lomax and Flanaghan who can all play hooker.
Fisher's solid enough, but not needed.

Aslo does he count on the quota ? if he does then we would never be anywhere near signing him ( not that we ever where or should )
