This preposterous top-8 system will never be voted out, because every club for whom failing to make the top 5 or 6 is a realistic prospect will always vote for it to stay. I'm glad we had the balls to vote against it, but I'm surprised we weren't joined by a couple more clubs.

Yes well done Saints for voting against this, Shame on you Warrington abstaining after Tony Smith refused to take part in it , if they feel that strongly then they should have voted no

Tony Smith is a man of his word. He obviously did what he said he would do last season, he didnt want ANYTHING to do with it.

Proud that we voted against it.

The pi55 poor play off crowds in the early stages saw fans voting with their feet.

Tony Smith publicly disowned the club call so they bravely abstain- what a joke.

The RFL stumble from one calamity to another. How Wood keeps his job I will never understand.

To be fair top eight is not the issue club call and the quality of the sides are.

Leedswon last year and were only one game from being seventh if i recall.

Couldnt you use that to say the quality has improved.

I agree, I've always thought that the top five system was by far the best. However I think the RFL/Superleague were on a hiding to nothing as it was Sky who wanted the extra round of play off fixtures.

The stupid club call should have been kicked out and I applaud Saints for having their say.

Agree, the play off should never go beyond the top 5. If I had my way and not subjected to Sky's Puppetry , I would have top 3, if Lewis and Wood want to involve a top 8 then they can create a gimmick comp for the latter clubs.
