Although I'm tempted to leave this empty......

Surely, Surely the Saints board have some more signings up there sleeves?

If Cloughs ankle is as bad as we all expect it to be thats 2 forwards out for the season (or thereabouts), Jordan Hands name keeps popping up as being a hardworking, talented forward so surely he will get a chance in the next few weeks?

Either this or they sign a forward until the end of the season? Although this probably wont happen and isn't the ideal way forward it may be the only solution?

and this isn't aimed as a rumors thread (not that ours has much action on it anyway) I just want some opinions on the way to go for the rest of the season.

I'd personally give Hand a go but thats just me?

We're not going to bring anybody in now. There will be no-one of sufficient quality available and we're better focussing on our recruitment for next season.

As for this season, we'll have to wait on the diagnosis for Clough, but you'd imagine Magennis will play as a 4th prop and should any of the other props get injured, Hand will be the next option. We're low on numbers, but we have a small squad, so 4 or 5 injuries really affect us.

No way will we bring anyone in fir the rest of the season. We don't like signing players on at all so if we need bodies we will just throw another young lad in.

Carl Forster will be back in a couple of weeks, he'll get a go before Jordan Hand. Although Hand is quite good, Forster is twice the player and is a very good prospect. He was unlucky to get a bad shoulder injury ruling him out for a few months.

I'd rather stick than bring any old garbage in......I really thought we may get Chris Hill but the Warrington Banking Corp has struck again.

Is it still legal for clubs to bring in ringers from the NRL for the play-offs i.e. Johns, Morley etc a few seasons ago?

our quotas full, surely they wouldn't go through the trouble of de-registering players and giving out hefty wads of cash to let some NRL players try and win us something when they dont want to play for the club.

Stupid as it sounds I'd rather watch use play with passion and lose every week than win with a bunch of 'all-stars' who have no passion for the club

Re: In's (or lack of) : Sun Jul 10, 2011 6:47 pm
The club has no ambition to win anymore. The board's focus over the last few years has been Project Stadium and ensuring the club has a future. It's an admirable strategy really and testament to the coaches we've had that we've remained competitive up to now. But it's over as far as winning trophies goes, probably for a good few years as well. We don't have enough quality senior players in the side and next season we'll only really have Roby, Wilkin and Puletua that are top class players. Our pack will be beaten by all the top sides and we've still not sorted the fullback and wing positions which adds to us having only one centre since Talau left.

It'll be interesting to see whether the focus ever switches back to winning trophies again. I must admit I cringed or rather winced when Colquitt insisted we're spending to the limit of the salary cap last week. If that's true we're doing really poorly.
