According to the St Helens Star we are about to open negotiations with companies regarding the naming of the stadium.

Personally I would like the stadium to have a name and then a sponsor rather than just a sponsor's name like the HJ Stadium or the DW/JJB etc.

Something along the lines of the <<insert sponsor>> Halo Stadium would be apt name IMO.

The Saddened! Halo. It's just perfect.

The Halo would be good on it's own. But knowing the commercial world we live in, it will be the 'R Taylors of Runcorn Bathrooms Stadium'.

No one is going to spend good money from their marketing budget in just having their name as an add on, more so with a new stadium, Knowsley Road was always that to me, whatever recruitment company name was put on it.

I know what you're saying, just in an ideal world it would be better if the stadium could have a permanent tag. Places like Odsal will always be known by that name because of history. What do you think the HJ stadium will be known as if that sponsorship deal changes. IMO because of the short period of time which has passed it will be known as the new name (like Galpharm instead of McAlpine) and I think that's sad.

the fact you know it was a recruitment company( and i bet you kinow it was GPW too), shows it works for the sponsors

As I have said in earlier posts, just drop the stadium from the name and simply call it the Halo - then when we do get a sponsor for the ground it would be called (insert any company name for Pilkington)
"The Pilkington Halo" rather than "The Pilkington stadium"

Its a win for the sponsor, its a win for the club by having a distinctive, St Helens linked, part of the name. Marketing of Games, events then all incorporate this unique selling point

i'm sorry but i think sticking Halo in anywhere within the name is utterly crap.

its a stadium, so the name should reflect this.

I wouldn't mind but the stadium doesnt even look like a halo.

I just hope that whoever ends up being awarded the naming rights has a good name!
