Ashe : Mon May 02, 2011 6:11 pm
What did people think today? He looked confident (not afraid to throw out the passes) and pretty calm under pressure, it probably helps he's got most of the u20's playing with him atm ;)

My only concern was he didnt look that quick , it could be deceptive but I'm a big fan of quick fullbacks who can make things happen from kick returns ala Brent Webb and Hodgson

Apparently he is quite quick, so hopefully it was just that he couldn't show it.

He played well, but he needs to invest in some new boots, couldn't keep his feet.

He is quick. He just didn't seem to apply any pace today what so ever. Mainly, I would hazard, because he doesn't have the build, strength and experience of say Foster, who can cannon into the opposition wall at full pelt.

I thought he had a very very good debut. He seems very confident and got involved as much a possible.

Royce said after the game that he's been out injured and wasn't fit. He only wanted to play him the last 15 mins. Maybe that's why he didn't look as fast as he is.

I thought he did well. Agar talked highly of him on our local radio after the game.

Fair point that, difficult to go full pelt when your not 100%. Also as said above I think he needs new boots !

The injury to ade may have been blessing looking back now. When ade left the field we put Armstrong back to his postion of wing and Ashe to fullback.

I think Armstrong was going to have a very tough day ahead of him as hull looked to bomb him to death.

I've got a theory that RL players never look as fast with their socks round their ankles. It might be rubbish, but I'm sticking to it.

Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. (Winston Churchill)

Re: Ashe : Mon May 02, 2011 7:14 pm
I thought Ashe did very well. Was his injury to his leg? I noticed it was heavily strapped up. People have said on other threads that he has pace so I assume that if he was fully fit he would run the ball back with speed. He did a good job though in setting up for Foster's try. That was lovely play, good feet. He was also pretty courageous, playing his debut only half fit and against a big side like Hull. I was looking forward to seeing him play and I think he will be a bonus for us once he returns to fitness.

Re: Ashe : Mon May 02, 2011 8:03 pm
Thought he had a great first team debut and one that he can be very proud of. Well done to the lad not many could have done what he did today coming back not quite fit after an injury.
