There is an argument that Saints were actually too disciplined last year for our own good.
I suspect that will change this year as we have signed Amor and Masoe who are both not afraid to mix it up.
With regard to Wigan, I noticed since McGuire arrived that they appeared to take the tactical view that it was better to give a penalty away following a break, either by holding the player down to prevent the quick play the ball, or deliberate obstruction of support players. I reasoned that this was because Wigan had high confidence in their defensive structures ability to withstand 6 tackles when the defence was set.
Teams like Saints I don't think had the confidence in their defence, nor did they possess aggressive intimidatory players.
Brown also used those type of spoiling tactics at hudds. I was surprised we didn't bring any of those holding down type tactics as it was effective for brown with hudds and maguire at wigan.
Mose will give pens away, that's a cert with him. Not only for his miss timed big hits but he will be caught off side as he struggles to get back into the line and I also think he will give a few holding down pens as he rests in the tackle.
