I felt really sorry for the Hull fans. The players should refund the fans out of their own pockets because they forgot to turn up.

London fan commenting on Hudds attendance? You having a laugh? Or just being ironic? As a percentage of their average attendance, I don't see that as a bad figure, all the teams have a major dip in attendances for the playoffs

Yeah, that crowd wasn't bad for them. Huddersfield's performances and style of play should be drawing 15,000 crowds regularly. I've considered going to a few of their games this season and I'm a Saints fan. God knows what the floating voters around Yorkshire are thinking, you would have thought the Giants would have hovered up a lot of fans from the likes of Bradford.

I think they are a bit late to the party in terms of getting floating voters.

The Bulls did the ground work in the early days of SL. It's not like switching power suppliers. It takes years for fans to move away from one club, get bored and then take on a new club, or for the new fans to decided to go to the local game rather than with their parents to the club their parent supports.

For example I live in Leeds. But I'm not going to be taking my kids to watch Leeds. So it's either Saints or wait until you are old enough to have your own money and ability to get to the game.

They may take in the occasional Leeds match when we hammer them at headingley.

It takes generations to build up a core support base. Many of the current faithful at Saints or Wigan are the children and grandchildren of people who supported the club down the years and passed their love for their club onto their kids. Unfortunately for Hudds that lineage was broken when they spent so long in the doldrums. At their lowest point in the 1990s they were getting crowds in the hundreds, so they've basically built to where they are from nothing. Hopefully if they stay competitive for a few years they'll see steady growth in their support base.
