Ian Smith is actually a pretty good video ref. He more often than not is video ref for the Championship games and Premier Sports link in with him while he deliberates his decisions. I think there is only one occasion I can remember since they started doing that with Smith when the pundits didn't agree with his decision. He should be employed as the full time video ref IMO.

I feel Ian Smith is very god at video ref, the way he deliberates decisions!

The problem mainly for me is the new set of referees in recent seasons, I don't thing they have any presence on the pitch, the likes of Roby, Childes and Thaler, not one seems to have authority, in fact someone on a forum yesterday, described them as being more "effeminate" than my description of authority and presence? You look back at the greats Clay, Naughton etc, they controlled everything on the pitch, and were revered by other sports!

That Charnley try was ridiculous, I don't how that can be given with the amount of replays at the video ref's disposal.

I just don't understand how James Child is a SL ref. Absolutely no excuse for getting that wrong last night. It was embarrassing.

Ian Smith is a tool who's had it for Saints for years.
