The Beumont deal is done but not so sure about Dawson. I only heard on here that we was after him.

Mose is waiting on his papers before anything will be official as was Luke Walsh.

This Beaumont better be good or the board is going to take both barrells. It looks a horrendous signing on paper. Has anyone on here ever seen him play, during those few appearances in between the list of career ending injuries?

It's a punt, it's not like we'll be throwing cash at him.

It will either work out or it won't, I don't see much of a down side really; certainly not one that should ever lead to the board taking "both barrels".

The risk factor is that if we don't return to being a competitive side soon, season ticket numbers will be descending every year. I would LOVE to see honest, accurate numbers for season tickets sales this season compared to next season. Only one way that's going.

Taking cheap punts on anonymous players is a very risky strategy when a club is in a position like we're in.

If they were the only signings we were making I would agree, but they're not so I don't see the big drama. We've announced a first choice NRL 7 to address the most glaring deficiency in our squad and it sounds like we're close to announcing a well rated NRL prop to part-address the second most glaring deficiency.

If we sign him it's clearly a punt on potential talent, not a signing we'll be trying to sell season tickets on the back of. How many season tickets did we sell on the back of Walmsley - maybe we shouldn't have bothered with him too.

Walsmley is a different matter entirely. He was a young player doing very well for himself in the lower leagues. A risk certainly, but a calculated one. Beaumont will be 26 when the season starts next year and has played 4 times as a professional. By contrast Gary Wheeler, despite being a year younger than Beaumont has made 41 appearances. If a player makes Wheeler look like a battle hardened warhorse, I'd suggest we'd be best served keeping well clear.

I'd love to know when the club did the thorough scouting you do when signing players, if this turns out to be true.
