With all the injury problems; not just this season but the past two as well, I am beginning to wonder if it is the backroom staff that is not up to the task. I do not recall so many muscle injuries when Apollo was the conditioner yet now there is a constant stream of players missing games with muscle strains of all descriptions. Most fans are quick to criticise players for not being up to the job, for example; Wello is no halfback, lance is not a standoff, Lomax is not a scrum half etc etc yet the backroom boys are never questioned. Take Perry for example; in almost three years with the club he has hardly played through all manner of injuries yet back in oz he did not have the same problems. No team will win anything without at least 80% of the squad being fit over the campaign yet the Saints have been lucky to have 70% over the past three years..

Time for changes methinks.

Possibly, but how are we to know? I wouldn't know if the conditioning and physio staff had changed. The current ones look pretty young, so I can't see them having been around for too long.

I assume they are all qualified in their respective fields, and you would also assume that the coachs have been happy with what they are doing (Potter, Simmons and Brown).

Joey Hayes has been around for ages.

That's the thing, we don't know - we're just assuming. I'm not going to make accusations against anyone until we know for sure. Which we won't.

It is not so much as accusing anyone in particular but looking at their results as a whole. A successful team relies on all its staff to perform well. If the team was at the bottom of the table getting beat week in week out, it would be out with the coach, or such and such a player must go and so forth. The actual point of the post is to highlight the substandard fitness levels of the players in general and suggest that changes should be made to improve matters.
