I'm not sure how much he would have earned as a player, but am guessing that it was considerably more than the average wage. For a player who was average at best, that is pretty good to me, particularly when you consider that it is hardly a full time occupation. Players need to realise that they are in a short term, risky occupation, that pays well. They need to take responsibility for securing their own income and their own future. If they want to blow it all on fast cars and faster women, then fine, but don't whine about having nothing at the end of it. And if they are average, they shouldn't complain that they aren't earning a top wage. That's life, like it or lump it, my sympathy level, as you can maybe guess, is minimal.
