A good reason to visit Wigan Library : Thu Aug 09, 2012 8:13 am
On Thursday 16th August Wigan Library are holding an eighties theme day as part of the Mayor's Charity Event. As the author of One Winter, One Spring, One Summer and One Autumn, four novels all written with a strong Rugby League background, I am the guest speaker at an event in the library starting at 2.30.
I'll be talking about how and why I wrote this series, how being a Rugby League fan since 1947 has inspired me, how I have portrayed the people who follow the game and the humour that is found in Lancashire life. I'll read a few extracts from my novels and I'll also allow plenty time for the audience to pass comment and ask questions. Tickets cost just £1 which includes refreshments, with all the proceeds going to the Wigan and Leigh Pensioners Link. I'll also include a bit of Rugby League poetry for the cultured ones amongst us and if there is time I'll say a few words about my next novel which is now over half finished. Some of the titles will be of great local interest I think. A Tale From Knowsley Road, Billinge Rules, A Day Out In Wigan and "She's a Jehovah's Widnes". More general details on my web site http://www.geofflee.net |
