Jake emmitt being allowed to leave was a mistake IMO. He was looking to be a good member of our team and could have filled some of the hole left by James graham.
I think everyone agrees with that.
I would say in defense of the decision at the time, Emmitt was being offered big money and a starting spot at Cas. We still had Graham, when discussing contracts with Emmitt and we where hoping to keep Graham, with an even bigger contract.
Had we known 12 months earlier that Graham was definately going (Graham was saying he was open minded about where he was going even into his last season), then that money we where setting aside as extra for Graham may well have been offered to Emmitt instead.
In a way it's been the case with a few decisions, that the players leaving have had the upper hand knowing what they needed before Saints knew what they needed.
I've not seen a lot of Emmitt this year, but last year he was pretty solid. If his contract is up, I'd have him back at Saints no problem with that. He may have had enough of playing in a side getting beaten more often than winning and now we maybe able to offer him the money he feels he's worth.
Just a side thought, could be done as part of a deal for shenton???
