I'm not sure what I think about wheeler as he's not had a good run in the team so I'll sit on the fence with this one.

Wheeler has the makings of a quality player, unfortunately he has been injury prone since breaking into the first team. If he is not "fragile" and gets a decent run I am sure he will be an asset to the Saints squad.

I don't care where he plays so long as he plays. The best young talent in the country not wearing a #1 on the back of a girlie pink shirt for me. He'd be my starting #6 every day of the week, but is just as good a bet at #4 given the longer term need to incorporate Gaskell's kicking and organisation in the lineup somewhere. Please God let him have a decent run of games next season...

He is a natural SO and will eventually end up making gaskell look ordinary.

When he was on against the goons earlier this year on good friday he was tearing them to bits and trerryfying them so they prurposely took him out the game by an illegal challenge from hoffman (IMO) and badly injured his shoulder (dislocated if I recall correctly).

Sporting Life match report: Wheeler, a third-choice stand-off in the absence of Leon Pryce and Lee Gaskell, had played an important role in Saints' impressive opening..........

Saints match report: Gary Wheeler put Michael Shenton in for the opening score then James Roby and Jonny Lomax inspired Jamie Foster's eighth of the year.

But Wheels was clattered late by Ryan Hoffman and had to leave the field - and with him off Wigan took full advantage and scored through Josh Charnley.

On 31 minutes Ryan Hoffman smashed Gary Wheeler late after he had kicked through and it was disgracefully ignored by the referee - Wheels leaving the field with an arm injury - later confirmed as a popped AC joint.

Saints lacked a little direction with Wheeler off the field and that buoyed up Wigan.

Also for those who are business people on here - he is still available for player sponsorship next year (now now no jokes please).
