Have already seen an interview with Royce Simmons. He's not charismatic but he comes across as a real human being, which is a bonus on a cardboard cutout.
Yeah Royce Simmons is one of the old style true rugby league blokes. In Penrith they loved him in his playing days because he was a one club man and legend from hooker....imagine if Saints had never won SL before, and this was the first win, in Keiron Cunningham's last game, that's what happened in the 1991 Grand Final in Simmons last game, with him scoring twice including the decisive try near the end.
On the "Thats Rugby League" video there's a little segment with Simmons, where he was talking about the 1990 and 1991 Grand Finals (both Canberra v Penrith, Canberra won in 1990, Penrith in 1991), and he said that winning in 1991 was great, but for him it never made up for the pain of losing in 1990, which I thought was an interesting comment. It shows that losing really hurts him.
Andrew Johns said something similar about winning the Grand Final in 2001, that it didn't make up for the hurt of blowing a semi in 2000 when the Knights thought they were well placed to win the GF in Matty Johns last year.
