Not bad : Fri Mar 19, 2010 11:29 pm
Superb me thinks, never doubted it for a minute I thought the team were superb again tonight. The word team is the key thing there. I thought the spirit the team displayed tonight was superb, it put the passion back in me.
From Eastmond running straight for Morley and Carvell and leaving them both on the floor, then racing through to celebrate 'to' the Warrington fans to Jammer, KC and especially Sia Soliola giving it to their suposidly superior pack. One moment I particularly loved was Soliola's fist pumping with about 8 minutes to go when they knocked on near our line. Some massive hits from the boys too, Graham did a couple of massive hits and Soliola was crushing them like a Samoan wrecking ball. Him, Maurie, KC and Jammer were all superb, backed up nicely by Tony P and Bryn.
I thought Warrington were lacking in creativity and ideas. Once bash, bash, bash failed to get through Cunningham, Graham, Tony P and Sia, they seemed deflated. Myler doesn't look like he could handle being the main half back, he's a backup merchant if there ever was one. I think for them it was an anti-climactic event. Their fans were there in superb numbers, but I've never heard a crowd so quiet. When we played Hull I could hear their chanting from just outside Morrison's car park. Tonight it took until the very end of Doulton Lane opposite the ground for them to be heard. Once it kicked off, they were almost silent, only sparking up once they came back into it with that spell in the second half. Not barmy enough their army is. Hull's fans are in another league to them.
Not quite the Saints of old but it's slowly getting better, very encouraging signs tonight. I've been Slick's most harsh critic, but there are signs of improvement, change in style but definitely improvement. He deserves the plaudits tonight.
