Obviously not a new band, but what a voice!! I got into her about 5months ago after hearing on the Paul Jones show on radio 2.
I am going to Leeds to see her and cannot wait.

Did you get rid of all the voices in your head? Do you now miss them and the things that they said?

Her two duet albums with Joe Bonamassa - Seesaw & Don't Explain are amazing.

Quite liking the Orwells, think one of their tracks is used on an Apple advert.

These guys aren't new either, but maybe they'll be new to you...

If you like hip-hop, and realise there's can be a lot more to it that gangsta cliches, you should love these guys. I've been listening to popular music, and seeing it live, since the 60s/70s, and the eras of Dylan and the Stones. I rate these guys as highly as anyone I've ever liked, in any genre. They have made five studio CDs, and three 'mix-tapes' (as they call them; their mix-tapes are as strong as most people's full albums), and each seems better than the one before.

They didn't help themselves with a band-name that ensured they'd get no radio plays, but that's the perverse bunch they are, and for my money they are ridiculously more talented than the Jay-Zs and Kanyes of this world. And yet they scratch around touring the world to make a living. They are the only band I have travelled abroad to see live (in Amsterdam; quite a night! ).

A band that I've heard quite a bit about, and have been fortunate to have received a promo of their new album recently, is The Popes Of Chillitown.
Mainly ska based, but throwing a lot of other things into the mix, along with some hugely addictive songs that get stuck in your head. Worth a look when the album comes out on the 15th.... Go to Bandcamp for details.
