Surprised me this one as the lad is highly rated at the club. I expect that we have a first refusal for him if he is to come to back to SL. Good luck to him!

Disappointed in this talented player who i feel would have broke into the first team in the next 12/18 months.

He doesn't look physically anywhere near SL yet. Maybe just an honest conversation was had about first team chances this year? There's no room in the back row if everyone is fit he'd be way down the list right now - Newman, MacDonald, Olpherts, Roberts, Simpson and out of position Handley and Martin might all be ahead of him. If that's the case he would likely have been loaned out all year again anyway, so it might just be better for everyone for him to make a proper fresh start elsewhere, and he seemed happy at York.

Who knows, he may become a superstar but from what little I've seen he's miles off.

He's only 19 surely loaning him out would had been the better option.

Look, im a Rohan Smith fan, but why let promising centres leave (Hall, Edwards) when your first choice centres are crocked and have a history of being crocked (Newman, Macdonald, Simpson) - only play wingers (who have zero positional sense) in the centres (Handley/Fusitu'a) who against Hull KR were a total disaster.

I wonder how much of this is down to Rohan publicly saying that 18/19 year olds shouldn't be playing SL? He might be right, but if you're a player in that position, you probably don't want to hang around for another 3 years to play regularly, when you can do so at another club...

Seems strange, given a loan would have shown in a years time whether he'll be up for it or not.

Is also clear that young payers who are ‘highly rated’ on here, are not necessarily thought of in same way by the club. We obviously felt would not make the grade and we have to make those tough calls…..
