He was asked to train with the team and refused and went home.

How is that not storming out?

Well in his own words "he wasn't in the right head space".

Seemingly our interpretation of "Storm out" are different.

Fair play to Gale for making that statement.

For me, this post has told me more about you than it has Luke Gale.

That's a great use of cap money? Surely Leeds would simply trade him and everyone moves on. Nobody is bigger than the club and the club have flexed their muscles and Gale is the loser - thankfully.

He has done himself no favours - especially with his team mates

Over reactions or what, last few years Sutcliffe, average and wanted moving on, now he’s John Holmes incarnate again.
Doubt Gale will go anywhere, remember Ellery getting stripped of Wigan Captaincy still played at Wigan for few more years.

"Brian McDermott, with a wry smile, nods when asked if he remembers a specific incident which made him realise he was a prick. 'I do', he murmurs."

More importantly, Schoey after the infamous removal of the captaincy at Leeds by Dougie, stuck around until early '96. Although he was arguably never quite the same afterwards.

Time to move on. Gale will be judged by his performances. If he impresses and performs at last seasons level he may get a two year offer elsewhere and walk at the end of the season. Otherwise at the age of 34 highly unlikely he will get a contract offer to match his Leeds salary so will stay put. Hopefully he comes back in and plays a blinder. Could be a blessing in disguise as Prior is clearly the outstanding captaincy candidate from a role model perspective
