With Gale, Eastmond, Myler and McClelland, are we likely to sign a replacement?

Well seeing as Myler is garbage at half back, Eastmond looks a million miles off and Mclelland has shown absolutely zero when he’s played there we’ve a heck of a decision to make and I think there’s a fair bet we will unless Eastmond goes very very well (and he needs to show this sooner rather than later).

I think that is very harsh on McLelland when ever he has played its with a make shift half or the second string pack.Its a real shame he hasnt had the chance to play this season.

I do feel for young McLelland because circumstances have conspired against him a bit. He did do very well at Fev a couple of years ago and I do believe there is a good player in there. Question is: is good good enough at half back? My view is no, if the club really wants to win the GF. So unless Eastmond, McLelland or whoever don't prove themselves top class by the end of the season the club need to act decisively in order to prevent 2022 being another transition season.

I would offer Mclelland a new deal to continue as Gale's deputy. Whether he would sign it I'm not so sure.

We need some depth in the halves.

For 2022 I'd like to see;

Eastmond (looks dire, but worth another year just incase)
McLelland (1yr extension? See how he goes this year I guess)
Gale (probably his final season at Leeds?)
New quality 6 (marquee money?)

Agreed. If I was in his boots I would probably look elsewhere, but we'll see.

where would he get a SL club starting 7 place. I think if he's offered a deal he'll take it

We need a top class 6 and next year is the time to get one.

"Brian McDermott, with a wry smile, nods when asked if he remembers a specific incident which made him realise he was a prick. 'I do', he murmurs."

We've got Eastmond next season regardless. I'd expect Gale to sign a contract extension for 2023, perhaps year to year from then on, unless he's hit by more serious injuries. Much of our future recruitment depends on how we think Eastmond is going - and the timing couldn't be worse with decisions needing to be made now before he's had a chance to show much one way or another.

With Myler in the squad it's not as pressing to have an additional half back option if Eastmond demonstrates he's still got it.

McLelland's never had the chance to properly get into it but, to be fair, he's not really taken any game by the scruff of its neck and time is running out for him unfortunately.

To free up money for a top quality 6 a lot depends on whether we give Hurrell another deal on marquee money - indeed whether we can afford marquee players going forward or not.
