Fascinating and articulate thread on Redvee about where the sport is going.
Definitely worth a (long) read. I chose to come to RL as a teenager as the sport was so damn entertaining. This was early 90's. I had no family or friends who introduced me. Is there much chance of this happening nowadays?

Most of it is a pathetic whinge list of stuff they say is going wrong but for which they offer no solutions.
They're obsessed with weird ideas like there being some sort of Yorkshire-led conspiracy against poor Lancashire clubs like themselves and that the game is in terrible state compared to... when they won the treble.

A grown up discussion of the inherent challenges the sport faces, the strategic mistakes made in the last couple of years (led ironically by the St Helens club) and how to realistically grow the sport with its limited financial resources would be very useful. This offers none of that, just being a non-stop attack on people they think have wronged them.

Can you tell me one solution in that letter? They've spent a lot of time saying how bad things are and how incompetent the leadership but say nothing on what they would do differently.

I have lots of opinions on how the sport should be run and how things that could be done but when the starting point is so clearly bad faith then it's not really worth engaging.

We've always been very good at pointing out the games issues, but it's a lot more complicated than simply incompetent leadership. Although, certain chairman wanted rid of Wood for locking them into a 5 year TV deal, and that was the primary reason for the breakaway, but with hindsight, that looks like it was a masterstroke.
