You say that Seth, and most of us would agree, but he was appointed to a major final last season and onto International group of referees so the powers that be clearly see something differently.

I know, its baffling to say the least. It's not just individual errors I just dont like the way he manages the game in general or communicates. Must be slim pickings for refs

The trouble with Kendall is, for whatever reason he doesn't seem to have a feel for how players play the game or what they are trying to do. That incorrect play the ball was a case in point. Sure you could penalise it as not technically correct but the reality is referees ignore most stuff like that just to keep the game going. As long as a player makes an honest attempt we carry on. A referee with a real understanding for the game would ignore it as a reasonable effort in the circumstances, not trying to gain advantage through foul play or a speedy play the ball. The obstruction no try last night likewise. It was just a dumb reading of how the game works and what players do.

If only Thaler was in better shape as he's the best we've got at that side of it, understanding and managing players through a game.
"Brian McDermott, with a wry smile, nods when asked if he remembers a specific incident which made him realise he was a prick. 'I do', he murmurs."

The thing that annoyed me was that I don’t think the Wigan player put his foot on the ball at the PTB just before their try after that. Inconsistency. If you’re going to be pedantic be consistently pedantic.

Thalers in training to be a pub landlord.

Agree but compared to some of the frankly awful ptb we watch every game it was harsh. Again the word consistency comes to mind

I don't disagree with you but on this occasion he got it right.

Mellor wasn't exactly lying down he just had his leg at the side with cramp and he made a clear attempt to play the ball with his foot,, they'll be far worse ptb's let go this season that's for sure.

There will be far worse, but it was an incorrect ptb by Mellor.

So why did Kendall not penalise all the other incorrect play the balls in the game including the one leading to a Wigan Try , Mellor regained his feet and actually played the ball correctly , the only thing he did wrong was place his hands back on the ground as he was trying to balance himself due to injury . It was a typical all about me decision from Kendall that we have come to expect from him !

So was the one leading up to Hardakers try when he moved a couple of metres off the mark and took out the marker defender.

I think they'll be patient with Eastmond given that he's already at the club. Watching him on Friday reminded me of seeing both Sandow and Barba for the 1st time in SL. They were both way off the pace but within six weeks they were winning matches. Not saying Eastmond will go the same way but the ability is there. Trueman is contracted to Cas for this year and next, so any club in the market for him any time soon is gonna have to pay a whopping fee on top of what will be close to Marquee wages.

I agree. Eastmond will get plenty of time.

I think he will go well eventually although, admittedly, it is early days. I think there were glimpses in the second half of what he can offer.

Hopefully they will have a major crackdown on the play of the ball. Would get rid of so many issues. Worked well when they did it in the nrl
