Hi all, Wiganer in peace! I've been watching some old games during the off season and noticed your band seem to play the Steptoe and Son theme now and then. Was there an in-joke related to this or was it just a tune they played? For example it just happened as Tommy Martyn kicked a grubber too long for a 20m restart in England v Ireland.

Usually played when the opposition has done something wrong, i.e kick out on full.
Just to raise a smile or 2 I believe.

Was always a bit unsure what the link was between the theme tune and the mistake.

Yeah I'd understand more if it was Laurel and Hardy or circus music.

Steptoe and Son were always born losers. What ever they tried never came off. Well thats my understanding of it
