No mate i dont work for the club or in the sport. Your contact wasnt lying, Cronulla made an offer due to Fitzgibbon and Agar being close mates. The timing just wasnt right at the moment.

I see Williams isn’t going to Wigan. They’ve gone ballistic but aren’t perusing legal action (apparently they had a Harris type clause for when he came back). Warrington bound. Big big blow for Wigan that and no wonder Powell keen to join Warrington..

If Warrington are desperate to get Williams in now and have conceded to our desire for them to contribute to his wages for the rest of this season then Austin coming to us for rest of this season.

If Warrington don’t agree to contribute towards Austin’s wages and cannot persuade someone else to leave/retire then Williams to us for rest of this season and probably signing long term deal at Warrington from next season

If we end up with Austin I really hope it’s just for the season, we need to sign someone who’s going to be class every game for us and not just a once a blue moon player, we don’t need other clubs rejects or another project signing now

One of these 2 players must surely be leaving Warrington very shortly in order for Williams to join the club.

His family didn't really want to come over to the UK, but due the lack of interest in his services within the NRL at that time it then left SL as the only viable option career wise for him.
Widdop's family have now moved back to Australia whilst he is still contracted at the Wolves which is far from being ideal.

Blake Austin is realistically going to finish his playing career in SL.
Warrington have a history of signing NRL half backs on big money without any of them really doing themselves justice whilst at the club
So Austin's inconsistent performances for them are not the ideal way to judge his talents

IMO Austin could actually work well at Leeds (and especially if Warrington are funding some/all of his contract for this season ) with Gale as the game manager as Austin certainly can pose a running threat

What are the clubs other options with regards to signing a 6?

Trueman would be a very good choice for us, But he apparently fancies fulfilling his contract at Cas whilst seeing what options are available in the NRL (If Rumours from Castleford are true) when he will be out of contract at the end of 2022
IMO Trueman is too hit and miss performance wise to get an NRL gig ATM so perhaps he has the option of waiting another 12 months
Trueman is also currently nowhere close to being in the same class as Danny Maguire was at the same age

Would signing Blake Austin on an initial 18 month contract be a good idea?
If he doesn't perform well whilst here then we would have an option of Trueman for 2023 if he was playing well enough?
