Decent players but taking rivals’ rejects isn’t going to take us forward.

If we do sign, I’d want them to be an automatic starter. If not we have back-ups and juniors to provide pathways for.

Don’t think so

Manu Mau and Mahe Fonua are though. Fonua anyone?

Come on, Jim. The idea that we can get by without another prop doesn't stand scrutiny. Tetavano hasn't been available for more than half the season, Prior will be another year older (35 I think) Holroyd is still young and injury prone and Thompson looks past it. A lot of pressure on big Mik to stay fit for what will be a lot longer season. We are running out of props this year, as we did last. I agree we need quality, but if that quality is coming in the form of a NRL back we need to opt for short term quantity in the middle. It's alright saying Muizz is an option, but is a Hull KR reject going to be good enough?

Fair enough; I don’t disagree that prop is/should be our highest priority. The point I’m making is - who? If we cannot find a top line prop then No I’d rather not block pathway of a Muizz, Tom N-W, AJ Wallace or others with just a warm body.

Hopefully we will identify a high quality prop. Like I said it’s NRL silly season but SL clubs are taking the crumbs left over after players have exhausted options to stay in the NRL. Just how it is and so we may have to wait a wee while.

It’s so hard managing recruitment. You get offered a good first grade winger now, do you hold off or strike while the iron’s hot?

Not sure we have to be worried about blocking pathways. If we want to win the league any time soon then I doubt any of our academy lads will get near playing prop for us in the near future.
I agree that we are way past the point of buying in squad players but to me having a bloke who comes in as 4/5 prop is not the end of the world, especially if it's a short term contract that allows us to start next year with a bit more confidence.

For me we simply need an upgrade on King. What is the point in releasing him if we’re going to get someone at a similar level again? Can’t imagine Salford are paying him £100k a year or anything.

If we can’t secure a player like that then I’d rather we waited than filled a place for the sake of it.

I see Hull are now being linked with Ebon Scurr from Bradford - we were supposed to have taken an interest earlier this season, I wonder if we dropped it.

Couldn’t agree more. When you look at it that way your absolutely correct.
