Not a bad thing mind as that might mean more chance of Jake Trueman to Leeds.

Seth your 7 generally takes the ball closer to the ruck that's how Gale plays and as do most controlling scrum half's.

Why do people on here think we have a given right to sign Trueman?
Firstly do we think GH will spend big money?
Secondly why would Trueman want to leave Cas with no pressure on him to have the weight of the world on his shoulders here in a bottom half team?
Yes I think GH would pay a fee he's done it many times before.I think Trueman would be interested because Leeds are a bigger club great facilities.

It’s about time Leeds made a statement British signing. Someone like Trueman or Williams would be one of those. We could build the team around for years to come and they’d be real roots of success. The last time we did this was JP and it worked fantastically well

Being British has nothing to do with being good. We just need some more quality in the side. We cannot replicate the success of the past in the same ways; the blueprint of a core of homegrown Academy talent added with some real quality seniors does work though IMO.

Warrington have tried to buy success for years and so far it's been slightly embarrassing.

We don't have all the most talented players from youth level, but we probably have the best group at a single club. I'd love us to show some ambition with around 3 NRL-quality signings, if we can afford it and find the right players. It's almost like we're so used to floundering for years that we've forgotten we need to sign players who are the best in their position in the comp. I suspect the club gets all this but is just trying to time things - said it before but there's no point in signing world class players into an otherwise Championship standard squad. If we can time it right so our younger players are starting to get to standard then the addition of stardust makes us contenders. I reckon we're about at that point and I want to see the club move.

The point I’m making is that being a top British signing they’re more likely to stick around for a lot longer than NRL players. JP was a perfect example of that. We need a top halfback and Trueman / Williams tick all the boxes. It’s be great business

Jim if you buy top quality British they are generally younger than the NRL player coming over plus if we could sign someone like Truman he could be our 6 for years. I agree we still need NRL players but i would only like us to go for quality ie Prior Tetevano.

I wouldn't complain if we could jag Trueman or Williams don't get me wrong, would agree here. I don't think a JP exists out there at the moment. That was a generational player who hailed from Leeds originally - long time between drinks.

Personally I'm not too bothered if a good quality NRL player wants to spend 2 years with us and then return. You get the odd Delaney who becomes part of the club DNA (and probably played on too long). The real rocks in the side are probably already here: Smith, Newman, Mik and some others. What they need is time to develop and some inspiration and standards-setting around them.

Walker/Edgell, Tindall, Newman, Broadbent, Handley, ?, Sinfield MkII, Mik, Leeming/O'Connor, Holroyd, Walters, Gannon, Smith; Edwards, Field.... I am really confident in the talent at the club already. If we can add another few real high quality seniors we are good. Half-back is the one area, given the age of Gale and Eastmond, where a long-term investment makes sense IMO. What I'm saying is that aside from one or two key positions, bridging signings are fine because our youth system really is delivering and with more on the way. We don't need to bring in external players when we have great players coming through like this in most positions. Our challenge will be to stop them being snagged by NRL.

I still think a 6, 10 and maybe 1 is needed if we're going to challenge again next year though. Therefore we'll have to let a few existing players go in addition to Lui. Still don't think Bodene Thompson was a sensible contract length for an overseas player of that level but hey.

3 quality NRL signings. Your joking aren't you? Be lucky to get 1 these days......

Yep no chance of 3 top NRL signings. We can’t afford it over here. Their cap blasts us out of the water significantly.
