Villa could make the top 6 if they get Bailey, Cantwell and JWP. They're also after Damsgaard. It's mad to think their spend could be £300m+ since promotion.

Minus the 100 million they get for Grealish and 200 over 2 years doesn`t sound bad.
We should be spending at least 50-70 mill this year to compete I reckon.

Not a chance we spend more than £50m, especially in the age of covid. We've spent £27m already.

Just looking at the net spend over the last 5 years of the Premier league clubs, and only 3 teams have had a average net spend over £50m

I find that unbelievable tbh, wow.
How much did we spend last year? I thought that was well over 50m?
We could cut our losses and try and get back the money we paid for Costa.
We need at least one player in the 25m plus standard and maybe 2 more at around 10m imo otherwise we will struggle to improve on last years finishing position.

It's easy to look at the spend the likes of Man City, Chelsea, Man U, have done and assume it's indicative of the whole league, but it isn't really. It's very uncommon to see clubs spend big 2 years in a row. PLeeds had one of the highest net spends in the league last season.

Obviously, there's still for those figures to increase before the latest transfer window shuts.

If it's not from Phil Hay, Romano or Smyth then it's probably bollox. Especially from the Italian press.

Phil Hay saying today in the Athletic, that we were in for Gallagher, Orta made a presentation to him but he chose Palace

He's expecting a good midfielder to come in and the door still open to a good winger.. (Lang, Kent, James all possibilities).

Probably thought he had more chance of game time at Palace although I think he`s a better player than Klich.
Did I read somewhere that Pereira has signed for West Ham?
