For me it's a matter of Leeds being the best Leeds can be within the rules. Hull and Huddersfield have shown that making late signings isn't the impossibility some would have you believe.

Leeds have already failed to defend one title and set a record no other club can boast. Becoming back to back to back champions would be something else no other club in the SL Era could lay claim to. Pity if that isn't achieved having come this far while underfunding the 1st team squad.

so how would you go about sorting the situation?

I can see 7 solutions:
Get someone who is not of sufficient quality for a 2 or 3 year contract, but is available (Hull mode)
Get someone not good enough for the NRL over for a loan for a year (Hudds Mode)
Sign a someone for a decent length contract, and deal with Eastwood situation if he gets his Visa
Sign a someone for a decent length contract, and end interest with Eastwood.
Pay a transfer fee and get someone in SL (assuming that everyone would fit into the wage structure and would come to Leeds)
Keep an eye out for decent players becoming available
Keep faith with the acadamy lads as and when needed
    Other solution

Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.

If Leeds virtually gave away their season tickets who knows, they might be able to get crowds of 7-8,000 too.

On the disciplinary point, it's a Challenge Cup week. Is anyone genuinely surprised when the corner of the rug gets lifted and a few offences get swept under it?

First of all I wouldn't neccessarily be in this situation in the first place but that's a seperate issue.

leicester_rhino wrote:

Lauaki looked sufficient quality during the world cup if they can get him over here.

leicester_rhino wrote:

Liam Fulton has a NRL GF winners ring hasn't he? On loan Michael Dobson came over here as an unknown but hasn't let down Les Catalans, Wigan (saved them if anything) and Hull KR.

leicester_rhino wrote:

That works.

leicester_rhino wrote:

That also works.

Naturally but what if no-one becomes available? Sometimes you have to make it happen rather than just sitting back and waiting.

I can't really dismiss that option when I haven't seen them given a run in the 1st team yet. When I do see Watkins, Gibson and Allan I don't think 'wow there here and in the team to stay.' As for the rest Ambler ect I firmly believe that if you're good enough you're old enough but without seeing them I'll have to assume that for now they aren't good enough.

I think you've covered most of the options nicely there.

Soliola? OOC at end of the season and I'm sure i've heard he's out of form/ out of the team. I imagine we could get a release on his contract early for next to nothing and he sure is a handy player.

Currently 3rd having gone 8 successive away games unbeaten with a balanced squad made up of a combination of mainly Ex-Wigan youngsters and Ex-West Tigers NRL GF winning team of 2005, increasing gates, with a forward thinking generous chairman and excellent ground/facilities. A club who didn't sit on their hands when faced with a Visa disappointment but went out and sourced a replacement.

If not Leeds there is plenty there for most SL teams to aspire to certainly.

I see them with the potential to replace Bradford as Yorkshire's number two challenger and wish them good luck in doing so.

Getting up the increasingly irrational Brian Noble's nose is another plus point.

Did you see Phil Clarke totally blow Noble's complaints away on Boots N All?
