Mik wasn’t terrible last year, he was just off his best. We’re just used to him carrying the whole pack.

He could be a whole lot better for sure and he’ll know that himself.

For me we need 4 genuinely good props who between them provide consistent issues for the opposition. We’re not quite there yet.

I also think that a higher quality back line will help the forwards by not dropping the ball or failing to play it correctly, putting more load on the middles with their errors.

My worry I guess is that we really could have done with a fully fit Oledski, Holroyd, Lisone and Sangare to start the season off but not to be. With a fit set of props you’d look at Leeds next year and fancy our chances most weeks.

Hull KR will give us a true indication of where we are going into the season proper. Donaldson aside we should be starting with our strongest available 17 as close as possible to the Salford line up the following week. There should be no experiments just stick to patterns and combinations and try and win the game.A defeat in a close game with a decent performance is fine HKR are no mugs. Lose heavily and mess around with the team too much and RS is under pressure from round 1.
The pack is a concern as you wonder how much front foot ball our halves will get and if we will flog our three quarters by overworking them carrying the ball off our line!

That`s true.
You can have a sh$t hot backline.
But if the forwards are getting hammered it won`t make any difference.
We have to hope that the forwards we have perform better than last year.

Need a massive season from Mik, Holroyd obviously has injury problem and the jury is still out on Sangare . Goudemand will have a big role to play I believe

Goudemand is a little bit like a very, very much cheaper Tetavano. Skilful player and solid but not really what we need at prop.

I dunno: Mik, Ackers, Sangare, Martin, McDonnell, Smith isn't a terrible starting pack. I just think we generally lack.. can I use the word here?... penetration up the middle.

Ooo err! I'm more confident about what Goudemand offers than sangare to be honest and would rather start him.
