I also get BT Sport via phone deals. I flit between BT and Plusnet (owned by BT) every year (on 12 month contracts) in order to take advantage of new customer offers. I currently pay £6 a month for BT Sport and watch it on a Sky+HD box.

Don't bother with Amazon prime or Netflix as I can access all films and series using Kodi for free. And they are all ad-free too :) If I want to watch the latest episode of GoT, Walking Dead or whatever, I don't want it serially interrupted by 20 minutes of ads, as is the case on Sky.

The only other essential for me is a PVR with recording (essential) and live pause (not so essential) features. Freesat using a Humax-HDR1100s covers that base for me.

Just done the same, used to be on Plusnet, then switched to BT a couple of months ago, same deal for sport. Also watch on Sky box.
Amazon Prime for me works because of the free shipping. Buy all Christmas and kids birthday presents on line, shipping charges add up quick (especially when you buy your son a weight bench, and 160kilos of assorted weights).

Getting rid in January. I have had SKY for years and have everything including internet. Price has crept up and up to the point it costs almost 100 quid a month! I'm not continuing to pay to line footballers pockets whilst the sports i actually bother with are scaled back or cut altogether.

I know someone who can get me a quality box that does all the channels for a fraction of the cost of SKY.. will also mean i get BT and Premier sports included so will have Champions league and NRL back on the menu :thumb:

£50 a year for Sportsnation HD. Every sporting channel available, all pay per view events & EPL 3pm kick offs included. And if you can't be arsed with Kodi they have an android/iOS app.

I'm a bit behind the times. Does that mean that if you have an Android TV you can get Sportsnation without a firestick?

I think only Sony and Philips at present are fully android, so you could on those yeah. Otherwise it would be a firestick/android box connected to your tv.

It's entirely honourable and sensible for an increasing number of customers to turn their backs on lining the pockets of tax-dodging, phone-hacking, working class hating billionaires like Murdoch and switching instead to legal, open-source software for research purposes. There are lots of interesting add-ons out there which are well worth investigating 8)

Far better to aid the struggling coffers of a sport with severe financial issues like RL by investing some of those savings made by paying a fair price for tickets to internationals, as opposed to staying at home because one cannot secure discounted tickets for a fiver each like some were in 2013.

Just looked at their list of channels. Pretty much the same channel lineup as an add-on called IPTV Stalker (though thankfully it's not been up and running for over a decade ), which also became subscription-based a year or two ago.

If you want guaranteed access to sports then you have to pay a small subscription. I've no idea how good these pay services are because I don't use any. OTOH, all the sport is there for free elsewhere but it's never guaranteed that you'll find it, or that the stream will be consistently good.

On the subject of Kodi, it's free to download and watch on your PC/Laptop. If you want to watch it on your TV, any droidbox will do, or install Kodi on a firestick if you've got one. A good broadband connection preferably using an ethernet cable (as opposed to wifi) also helps.

Good move.

Have you actually given notice (31 days) to Sky yet of your intention to cancel?

If you have, you'll probably already have an offer to stay of 50% discount for 12 months or even 60% discount. Once you go through with the disconnection of services and not give in to their offers and pressure sales, that discount will likely jump to 75% plus £50 or £100 credit.

Anyone paying full rack rate for such a lousy service needs to have a word with themselves
