Thompson contract is around £440,000,he's also has concussion problems and hasn't played for several weeks.

Having watched quite a few of his NRL games his go forward is pretty good but his defence is shocking at times - slow to get into position and far too many arm grabs rather than putting his shoulder in. Given how well the Dogs are playing without him he may struggle to get back in the side if he stays.

I don’t think he is the answer for us. Rather a couple of lower profile but good quality players - Smith will have his eye on a few and he’s familiar with reserve grade players of course.

We clearly haven’t got recruitment and retention right over an extended period now, let’s hope Rohan can change that.

KJ - I don't think anyone would have issues with those leaving. Fingers crossed Smith is as accurate in his picks for incoming players.

He was one of the top 2 or 3 props in SL when he was here, hence why he got snapped up by the NRL. Those saying he's poor i just don't get that mindset, he'd easily be one of best props in SL if he came back. Regarding his concussion issues, medical would have to be stringent of course.

Maybe there is scope to sign him on a loan deal until the end of the season with Canterbury part subsidising his salary.

Smith gets a look at him, we can see if he gets more concussions, he can decide if he wants to join us etc, etc.
