Would be happy with the Wigan winger as we need pace in the backline. Luke would be a great hooker and then a go forward prop.

As for the back row, I think it looks ok if without Merrin. I would have ward, Martin and mellor with Donaldson, cuthbo, trout, sutty and Cam Smith as backup.

Even though in reality we probably won't be mature enough a side to really challenge for another year or so, the club really needs to push hard now.

The standard of Saints will be hard to bridge from where we are now, but as Salford have proven, anything's possible in this league. Even with a young side we could shake things up a bit, as long as our key weaknesses are addressed.

Some of the names being mentioned seem the right ball park to me. Sam Burgess - stranger things have happened but I'd be surprised.

Think I would be more shocked than surprised if we signed Burgess.
Shocked that we would sign a known crock if what they are saying in Australia is true.

If he has a dodgy shoulder we’d find out at the medical. If he passed and then broke down he’s insured. We lose nothing other than a player to injury.

Doesn’t mean I think he’s coming btw...

Right now we are a way of challenging but let's see where we are in Feb. 2 or 3 god signings, a bit if luck with injuries and a decent start to the season and you just never know.

Saints might be the most consistent but that also includes bottling the big games, they have their own issues to address.

I agree, Sam is a big name and we should be linked with them. Just don't want the club getting swayed by names and reputations as that almost never works out for us. We are always better when we sign a player that fits what we want to achieve not what the marketing guys say will sell.

Toronto Wolfpack have said they are after Sonny Bill Williams, if Merrin has left we should be targeting SBW as our marquee signing

The only reason to sign SBW is to sell tickets and for the PR

As much as I like SBW, he is hanging on with injuries. His body is ready to retire. We couldn’t take a risk like that.
