Probably get Daryl Clark for much less. However we just need a couple of seasons while we support the development of the young talent.

I can live with some combination of Dwyer, Lunt and Johnson if we have to. Luke and Johnson, I’d be excited about.

We still have way too much salary and too many quota spots tied up in players past their best.

That's our problem. To bring people in, we need to ship people out. I'm sure Sinfield and Agar know who is and isn't worth their places, and that may differ to popular belief in here (it usually does).

The hard work is to get people to move on, without alienating them in case they don't find somewhere, and have to stick around next season

That I think was one of the problems Furner had.Somehow a list of players hit the media of who he wanted to release.All I believe started the season and Furner then had to get them onside which as we know didn't seem to happen.Agar seems a little smarter in that department.I fully expect Myler to move on but still not convinced Cuthbo will.

I was going to say the same. Whether it was Furner or sinfield we'll never know, but it seemed a good chunk of our starting 17 were told they could go and reacted badly.

Whatever the reasons behind it, that squad was a mess when KS came in - the culmination of years of neglect.

I don’t know if Sinfield has done everything perfect, but you can’t fault his commitment to dragging Leeds back to the top table again. He’s been prepared to break the odd egg to make the omelette too.

I’m sure he’s learning on the job too but he’s a decent hearted bloke and I for one am pleased he’s there pulling strings now. The squad seems to be moving in the right direction and the club generally - and it is no easy task.

I see Cam Smith in NRL sounding less likely to continue career there. Maybe a “Buderus” year at Leeds could work? He comes across as a bit arrogant but my word what a player.

I agree we have some deadwood still but we are getting there for sure.

In terms of deadwood it's probably Myler, who obviously knows the writing is on the wall and will either move on now or next year regardless. We need a good hooker but with only Dwyer and Johnson officially on the books I don't think either are deadwood. Peteru I think has done ok but could be upgraded, Crosby hasn't played so hard to know what he is. Last we could upgrade the wings but not too priority and again, I'd hardly call them deadwood.

On the flip side we have moved out Watkins who is broken, ablett and jjb who are both broken, parcell who had clearly lost his mojo, Tui who never had any mojo and ferres (please don't give him a 1 year). I think we have made impressive and ruthless progress so far.

I think you'll see Ferres in leeds colours next year which isn't the end of the world if it's a reduced contract and he's fitter after having that chunk of gristle taken out of his knee. We've now got an organising half back that can kick and hookers that have looked ok behind an average/poor pack. Hopefully some muscle up front will push us in the right direction. Strangely we dont seem good at producing prop forwards. The last half decent club trained one I can remember is Danny Ward and he didnt last that long.
