Anything we got from Merrin post April/May last year should be viewed as a bonus really I think.

Disappointing that it seems he will be gone but I'd rather it was done now than will he wont he all off season.

Merrin will not be coming back, family reasons 100%. the bloke is as straight as they come, but unfortunately due to family reasons he will not return. Leeds have given him a time scale and he has agreed to this, so unless something happens while he is home I cannot see him coming back, the measure of the man is how he is sticking by his family, Respect.

Fair enough imo. Good luck to him he always gave his best for us and as long as he confirms it now leaves us with a chance to replace him with someone decent.

Think Merrin's departure was on the cards last season when he came back against all odds., probably pretty much guaranteed his departure with such a sad, sad series of family tragedies.

Top man for fronting it out and batting on but as others have said, time for him to focus on his family 110%

No ones fault, just a total an utter barsteward of fate and horrendous bad luck and timing.

We will miss him, truly captain material and we'll miss the steadying influence.

Agree 100% Brodie, I alluded to this on the Marquee player thread by saying that he was still good enough to get offers from NRL clubs and that I would be surprised if he was here for 2020 irrespective of any personal issues

I would love to get Merrin back as he is a very talented player but his personal circumstances must take priority and the club have given respect to this and have quite rightly given him the opportunity to explore his possible options

Although on the flip side Merrin isn't irreplaceable, especially with our back row options for next season and beyond and a starting prop or a starting 9 would make good use of our overseas quota,already Prior and Luke have been mentioned as possible replacements and either would be great additions for us and also in areas that we need strengthening asap until our juniors are ready to take over

We need some quality senior leadership to bring on the juniors who are in and around the 1st team.

Gale should be perfect to bring on any halfs, like him or loath him, hes taken his lumps and come back to make it international level.

Isaac Luke would be phenomenal for bringing through the younger academy hookers, would instantly bring a harder, meaner dare I say poophousing front row.

Always admired Isaac Luke, when he’s the right side of the line. On his day top class.

One of the biggest signings actually would be Ryan Carr as Assistant Coach for me. He looks a real prospect and I hope we get him at Leeds. Could be successor to Agar quite credibly.

Dunno about either Prior or Luke. Prior's solid enough I suppose. Haven't seen much of Luke but getting dumped by the Warriors doesn't say much, and he's seemingly not had any interest from the NRL. He's certainly not the player he was.

Prior was an ok signing WITH Merrin still here but nowhere near good enough to replace him.
