I'm sure I remember Josh Walters scoring in a grand final, so it's not impossible to win the comp with him in the team.

He missed the tackle to let Bowen in though.

He has been really poor though since that one great moment. Hasn't kicked on whatsoever, infact apart from showing a slight bit of promise when he first came in he has continued to regress imo.

Anyway, i agree with others that he is only a squad filler so not such a huge deal, however i personally would like to see an aspiring 19's player or Oledzki get his few minutes as i really don't see a future at the club for Walters or what he is bringing to the table.

just in the right place at the right time in the grand final. keinhorst put him over he only had to dive over the line. keinhorst kicked on since then walters has not, we have better coming through at least 3 players ready for or not far off ready for first team now. we let clarkson go who was a much better player so cant see walters being here next year, championship player at best.

Peacock and Hardaker didn't do so well with their attempts either.

McDermott is going. I actually think he is more relaxed because of it, and seems to have let the shackles go. He apparently asked to finish the season, and that is what they agreed.

During our success the fringe players have managed to contribute though because the 1st choice regulars around them were performing to their potential & we had the required quality within that squad the 2015-GF a perfect example.
How many "1st choice" superstars actually performed during that time you highlight?
Finally i always agreed we were in transition but didagreed how it's been handled & still think the biggest phase is yet to come in terms of numbers of 1st team/choice players that need replacing.

Which fringe players of the past would you compare to Josh Walters? He makes Ian Kirke look like Jamie Peacock.
How many? Quite a few once they got fit and got some match time. We struggled before then because we had to rely too much on Div1 level players like Josh Walters.
No you didn't.

I liked both Foster and Pitts. They had some good attacking skills but very much came through at the wrong time.

Worrall is a good comparison for Walters imo.

Good to see you're finally in agreement that the club is already in transition. :P

I'd say that fringe players like Josh Walters are one of the bigger issues at the club though.
One of the key reasons for us struggling so much last year is that outside of our first 17 we didn't, have anyone that could come in and do a job.

If we went for better/stronger players in that 20-25 shirt number range it would no doubt cost more money, and would spending that money there impact on our ability to retain our starters....which we've been extremely good at for quite a while now.

true. but your assuming we wouldn't have the cap space to do that. either way with some of our youngsters looking very strong I can't see walters being involved next season
