Re: Sinfield : Sun May 17, 2015 11:22 am
Sinfield had his best match for quite some time and his contribution deserved the MofM award. The decision to play him at 6 for this match was the correct one due to a need for better game management and points from kicks following a drop in form from Sutcliffe. However IMO the main reason for our turn around in form was the performance of the pack notably JP, Cuthbertson, Delaney and Ward who created a go-forward platform which allowed our half backs and backs to perform. The return of Hall was another factor and not just his usual strong individual efforts but in allowing Watkins to return to the centres it gave a missing fluidity and confidence to our back play. I am sure Sutcliffe's game would have also benefited too had he been chosen but he would not have turned 4 point into the 6 with the same regularity that Sinfield did.
There are some that were suggesting the the likes of JP and Cuthbo should be rested having "been flogged" (in their opinion) but the best way to return to form is to play yourself back and the key period of first half possession allowed us to do that and build the all important confidence building momentum which squeezed Huddersfield out of the game.
