amirite?

being as ellis wasn't the single difference between winning and losing both the previous grand finals and we have buderus in why do we need to sing someone else?

everytime we go through a bad patch some clueless mother crys for the check book.

I would sing someone else if I knew the words !

Salary Cap? Just that Lean Dance was a wally coach (Murray was a hell of a hard act to follow IMO)? Maybe? (serious questions)

Was the salary cap in place then ?

The point was, they need not have been world-beating players, just ones we could have slotted in to take the pressure off other members of the playing staff.

Not really, there's just a need to do now what should have been done during the off season. Only now it could be an expensive exercise except as our CEO recently stated "I believe it’s an extremely talented group of players who can achieve our objectives this season.”

Our objectives presumably being to not defend our WCC title, be knocked out of the CC at home at the first hurdle, lose to Bradford at Odsal for the first time since 2003 and lose at home to Salford for the first time since 1977.

1999, IIRC? Same time as Lean Dance came? Again, from memory so happy for someone to improve on that.

Ok, that's fine for Bradford, but what about Leeds? (I'd add a ;) but its not really a joke...)

It is much like 1999 .... Graham Murray had built up a great Leeds side, on worthy of taking on any team in the league and beating them. That team gave its all, up to 2/3rds of the way through the season.

Had the coach been backed, with the masses of cash that a win at Wembley would have made us (other than the signing of Keith Senior) and brough a couple more faces in to help a pack that was running in empty, we could have made a serious challenge for the double.

As it was, the chequebook stayed firmly in the back pocket and we then had a couple of years of nothing much to show for it under Lance ....

We better get looking and looking fast for anyone down under that might be available and that doesn't have a string of parking offences and the like.

Wouldn't matter who we signed, the "come on fellahs, rah rah rah" ran out of steam. Murray was done.

Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.

And the reference to the 1980's should be an indication that the "chequebook" is no guarantee of preventing any of that happening.

Agree over Eastwood.

Squad is light and my major concern is a lack of pace out wide which is multiplied by the fact Donalds positional move has obviously had a negative effect.

Squad is light. Not so much worried about pace on the wings though. Centres then yeah but its not that crucial with the right personell.

Ablett has been our main right centre this year. Let face it he's a 2nd row, depsite been named a centre in a GF this does not make hime a centre, and offers next to nothing going forward. Plus side he's not getting caught out as much defending out wide.

Senior is all but 33 and his pace has been in continued decline. All ready missed 2 or 3 league games. After him the well is dry. He misses a game or miss fires and we struggle against a decent side.

Couple that with our less expansive game style the 3quarters get the ball in less space with less time against better set defences. In this scenarios you need centres who can spark and make things happen. Ablett, an inexperienced kid and a gibson still off pace are not that.

If senior is firing he looks a real threat close to the line..... but thats it. We're a one trick pony with a good left side.
