Hmmm. You can see the similarities with JP - but he isn’t JP. Prior is tough though.

YEP reporting Gale could be announced as early as tomorrow. Hopefully if that's tied up and sorted and we're being quite firm around deadlines for Merrin, we can look to get some business done without scraping around in January.

We started 2019 with Lolohea and Myler, so Lui and Gale is probably a step forward for 2020, with McLelland a year on too.

At least we'll have a kicking game either side of the field.

Can't wait to see what Christmas shopping Agar has been up to. We do still lack some star quality.

If Prior signs he would certainly strengthen the front row while the back-row will be considerably weaker.

I would guess that Ward, Mellor, Martin would be starters with Sutcliffe, Smith, Donaldson, Walters, Trout, Mustapha in reserve.

At a pinch Cuthbo or Peteru could play there too.

Not saying Merrin wouldn't be a loss but we have plenty of bodies for the back row, if not outright quality (yet).

Luke is a possibility: I doubt very much we could afford the salary Burgess would require, or that he'd want to come back to the UK at this stage.

Good well at least we can all move on now. 6 and 7 confirmed for next year, let's see what they do about the maybe-Merrin-replacement and the front row generally.
