Couldn’t agree more. Sad to see him go if it happens, as he was by absolutely Miles our best player last season, but to be fair to the man, he stuck by us in the season despite what he had going on in Aus, and playing for an embarrassment of a team here trying to fix it.
To be fair I put up with a lot and don’t get paid £300k etc, but I get your point!

I doubt though you are split between your family and future, and staying with an embarrassment of a team to honour your contract. That is very relevant here.
To be fair to the guy he backed us through a difficult period, and showed the honour of the man. We should remember that and support what ever decision he makes.

I am glad he stuck with us and there would be no hard feelings whatever he decides is best for him and family.
Honouring contracts isn’t always easy and that runs from the club to players too.
Hopefully Trent wants to stay and these are just more never ending BS rumours, im expecting an even better year from him nxt season.
But, If he wants to stay in OZ, we need to get things sorted quickly and give ourselves time to find a quality replacement, good thing about the NRL and most clubs salary cap mess is that they release good players from contracts at the drop of a hat, and often contribute towards salary...There will plenty of good options to explore, in plenty of positions, but if theres any truth to the rumours, we dont want this dragging on.
I like Merrin, he has been a good captain and glue for the team. If he wants to join a new team as he is contracted for 3 more years, we should 100% not release him but command a fee, we are a business as well as club, this farce with Aussies coming over and signing big contracts and then going home, family 100% comes first. I am a submariner and we have a Canadian guy on a contract here, he has family issues but to the navy he has a contract and won’t let him go, he gets special treatment but end of the day a contract is a contract, I know it’s bit different, it just annoys me, like Segeyaro, Sandow and all the rest. We should not waste this replacement if he is going, we would need a new Captain as well, so that’s a big one.

Agreed. We certainly cant afford to let him go cheaply if its correct.
Professional sport is not a charity. Players are well paid for doing something they love. Circumstances change, particularly when you are a long way from home but the facts above remain.
