Smith was brought in to get rid of almost all of the squad, as it seems the penny finally dropped that we couldn't keep on trying to fix things by swapping out one or two players every year. We couldn't change the big names last off-season, but there will be hardly any of them left for next season, particularly in key positions.
I have no doubt he's made mistakes but I personally would stick with him for next year. This year's team isn't his by any stretch. Next year's team will be down to him. A new coach coming in would no doubt want different players and the process would start again.
In any event he'll be well aware we need to do much better at the start of next season, or players won't be the only change. I just think its higher risk switching now than waiting to see how a team largely built by the coach goes. It also wouldn't say much for GH's vision if he signs a coach with a remit to sweep out the place and then blinks one year into a three year plan when the coach is doing exactly that.
