It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.

I’d say this is where we should start fixing things, culture and standards. Both have slipped so far they’re not even on the radar any more. I’ve banged on about this all year, can you imagine JP and Sinny accepting what the players have dished up this year?

Fix that before going any further, or you won’t get far.

I think we need a new coach for next season. So he has some cap to spend and a pre-season to work.

I’m sure Wane for example would want rid of some of these but a good coach seeks to maximise what he can from all the players he has got. Smith has now exited 17 players I believe and brought in players who overall are worse. His man management abilities look pretty woeful from the outside.

Coaches need to get more out of players not just say I want a different 30 players.

Could wane get an aggressive tune out of Sangare for example.

I think part of the disruption I down to this whole passive defence approach.

Last week v Wigan we played with virtually no aggression. Dupree started playing up and after about 60 minutes, Oledski put in a fair but hard tackle on him. He did it out of frustration. He and the rest should have been doing it from the start but we never do.

Wane could easily get some aggression from Holroyd, Mik Lisone, Bentley, McDonnell and a new forward.

I don’t believe many forwards would want to play this soft game we do.

I also believe that Caddick needs to step in and remove a failing aged CEO and the coach from this week or a week on Monday.

The latest Gh Yorkshire post article is just more guff from a BS riddled double glazing salesman

Agree with all of this apart from GH. You’re absolutely correct about a coach has to improve the players not just change 20 of them.. that just doesn’t work.

personally I’d bring in Wane. We look soft and badly coached.

Smith was brought in to get rid of almost all of the squad, as it seems the penny finally dropped that we couldn't keep on trying to fix things by swapping out one or two players every year. We couldn't change the big names last off-season, but there will be hardly any of them left for next season, particularly in key positions.

I have no doubt he's made mistakes but I personally would stick with him for next year. This year's team isn't his by any stretch. Next year's team will be down to him. A new coach coming in would no doubt want different players and the process would start again.

In any event he'll be well aware we need to do much better at the start of next season, or players won't be the only change. I just think its higher risk switching now than waiting to see how a team largely built by the coach goes. It also wouldn't say much for GH's vision if he signs a coach with a remit to sweep out the place and then blinks one year into a three year plan when the coach is doing exactly that.

Yep. That's my view. The risk is too great given that both Smith and GH have referenced that discussions with players are currently ongoing. If Smith were to go now it might throw all our recruitment plans into turmoil. Furthermore I can't see any obvious replacement on the market. The idea of kicking off another "World wide search" during pre season really is flirting with disaster. Let Smith get in the players he's been negotiating with, lead the pre season activity and try for redemption in the early part of next year. If we aren't progressing then it's time to take action, at a time where other coaches are then likely on the market.

This is the sensible approach and is what’s happening too. Despite what people on here want, Smith is staying and the rebuild is well and truly underway. We’ll have a very healthy looking squad to work with in preseason….

Well, you clearly aren't happy, and I can't remember the last time you were. That's fair enough, but if we do sack Smith today, which available coach are you bringing in?

I am a grumpy old man. that's true.

as for coaches I've no idea. I don't watch aussie stuff really. ive no idea who is out there but then again it's not my job.
but i won't accept mediocrity and smith has shown nothing this year to prove he will do anything next year. and we are giving him carte blanch to do what he wants
