Yep, given he was at Leigh I'd be astonished if that wasn't the case. Ultimately it doesn't really matter. Just need to be realistic and use the opportunity to strengthen.

It's done now anyway so time to move for me agree release from contract however would insert a clause that should he sign for another Superleague club over term of his original contract a fee would need to be paid as the reason for contract release was compassionate grounds for him to return to Australia. I think that is fair and there should be some protection for clubs. Imagine scenario if when Sam Burgess was at his peak and had a 5 year deal at South's if he asked for a release in year 1 to return to UK and was granted then he rocked up at the Roosters a year later on a free.

Agreed, I don’t think we should or even could stop him signing for an Australian side but we should definitely make it thst if he signs for a SL side there’s a fee involved.
