At this stage I'm hoping it just appears that way. It appears that Smith has already marked a few cards. Two have already gone, Dywer and Sutcliffe were both dropped for Saints. Tetavano has maybe just marked his own card and Prior might well be heading home. Wheels might well be turning behind the scenes. Surely they've got to be? Put it this way, if the likes of Briscoe and Tet are part of the equation next season, I won't be renewing my season ticket for the first time in nearly 40 years.
Keep getting that season ticket bud. We all need to stick together behind the club. It’ll come
I hear Josh Simm may be a available from Saints, he looks a talent. I know we have a few young centres be interesting to see if he goes anywhere
Simm is leaving Saints at the end of the year. He’s fallen behind both Davies and Bennison since the start of the year as a young backup, we have a glut coming through the academy in the three quarts (Martyn, Sambou x2, Haynes, Robertson) and with us u-turning on extending Hurrell meaning we have 3 senior centres as well (Hopoate, Hurrell and Percival) something was always going to give.
I know he was in advanced conversations with Hull, but had thought he was signed.
With a change in coach there always going to be a period where he's sizing up the squad, and identify where we need improvements.
For those wanting to ship out Tet, I admit he's been poor, and isn't with what were probably paying him, I wouldn't be getting rid just yet. Smith may be able to get more out of him, well need to put a lot of energy into finding him another club, and we'd be even further from a strong front row. We need a couple of props, so why make the problem more difficult by shipping another out. Now we've moved some people on for next year we'll have some cap to play with

Id be amazed if it took your average man in the street long to know what we need let alone a qualified coach. On Tetevano, I don't see that he's got it in him, he's 4th choice standard at best, theres been no upturn since Smiths arrival and his 2 previous coaches haven't got anything out of him either. If they can move him on and identify 2-3 new front rows they should, either that or he drops down the pecking order, which is galling given the money he's on.

I will mate. Even if I don't renew I know I'll end up at the vast majority of games, home and away. However, unless GH shows some willing I'm just not going to handover a chunk of money (I did twice during pandemic) because it just gives licence to the continuence of the complacency that set in about a decade a go. While we can chuckle at Warringtons almost comical lack of success, you can't fault their ambition. They think they have the right man in Powell and boy are they backing him. I think we might finally have the right man in Smith and I want to GH and the board give him the same level of support.

It's almost beyond performance now. If he was turning out and giving 100% every game and was still pretty average, I could accept it. We gave him the contract after all. But when through his own repeated actions, he is unavailable 50% of the time, it starts to drift into gross misconduct territory for me. I hasten to add that I have no legal qualifications.

Your lack of legal qualifications is apparent ! Lol… I’m not sure you are aware what ‘gross misconduct’ means. When you sign a player you either pay them a yearly sum , Or appearance based set up. No decent player would even consider the latter. ‘Gross misconduct’ relates to things like assault, drugs, repeatedly missing training, abuse of club officials etc…..

On Tetevano, just think back to when we signed him. We were desperate for an NRL impact prop. He fit the bill perfectly. Playing at the very top level in the NRL.
For whatever reason, it just hasn't worked out so far. But I can't see him walking away, or anyone else taking him with the salary he's on. We're just gonna have to try to get the best out of him. Maybe bringing in a couple more props will give some competition and make him realise he's not an automatic choice.
I could see Prior going back home after this season, which would make us even more short up front. Only comfort is that Walters is definitely gonna transition to prop.

Actually I am. Is repeatedly being found guilty of violent play on the field not assault? I appreciate the lines are more blurred when it comes to contact sports, but legally there probably are some precedents. I have managerial oversight of200 people, give or take. I know that if any of them were consistently unable to do their job for reasons solely within their control, they would be on a performance improvement plan, and if their record did not improvement sharply, they would be heading for the exit. Having a contract does not prevent you from being accountable for your conduct both out of work and at it.
