I'm not au fait with how these things work, but generally isn't it almost too late when stories of players being offered around hit? I'd have thought there'd be enough intelligence, given RS and others contacts, of who/where/when to be able to get ahead of the game. Which we may very well be, tbf.

More I think about the quality in SL, the more I think Frawley would be fine. The challenge cup final was won by a halfback pairing of Lam and Ben Reynolds. Frawley is better than both of those player. The other side had Schneider and Milne's.

I don’t think Frawley is better than Lam, granted they’re slightly different players.

The reason I’d maybe take a punt on Johns isn’t because of his last name. There’s a list of promising young halves, which includes Croft and Scott Drinkwater, that didn’t quite crack Melbourne but have gone on to be good players elsewhere.

Things like accommodation are captured by the salary cap. Genuine third party deals aren't but they need to be very tightly written so that there is zero hint of it being a vehicle for a club sponsor to get money to the player outside the cap.

But this is all somewhat irrelevant because the marquee player spots mean the type of player who would get third party sponsorship deals isn't really a problem for the salary cap.

I'd take Lachlan Lam over Matt Frawley any day of the week. I seriously hope the club aren't looking at him at all.

Yes would even be a backwards step on this seasons incumbents.
If signing him as first choice, which no doubt it would be, then I'd rather we did not bother if that's the level we are aiming at. No point just for the sake of it to say we have signed somebody.

Patrick Mago could be available from Wigan, worth a QS? Always seemed pretty good when ive seen him

Most Wigan fans don’t seem too fussed about him going. I’d be going all out for Tom Burgess at prop, make him Marquee. I’d use the OQ spots on halves, of which I think we need two, with Sinfield and Myler as back up.

RS refused to talk about any frawley speculation, that's not a great sign he usually gives a brief history of their relationship then says I've not spoken to said player.
