Absolutely. A combo of big metre makers and players like Bentley are ideal

Thing is, if you have to fill the side with better players to get the most out of a player you bought to improve us dramatically, what's the point? If he stays I would hope it's on a significantly reduced contract. Bentley and his agent have clearly tested the market both in the NRL and SL, and they've come up short. It's not loyalty to the club that has kept him at HQ. He's a good lad who should make the starting 13 most weeks until superseded by Gannon. Just wouldn't want his resigning to get in the way of truly vital upgrades required elsewhere.

Think my problem is that McDonnell gets in ahead of Bentley for me, and he will be on nowhere near the salary. Donaldson is another similar “waspish” player.

You have Martin, Gannon, the new French signing to fit in too.

Frankly I think Bentley is overpaid at Leeds and is solid rather than spectacular.

We have been overpaying underperforming players for years and these kind of commitments stop us from investing elsewhere.

Our back row really does lack any real umph or offloading game, maybe Gannon in time will provide something different but it's an area for looking at probably after next season.

Couldn’t agree more with the two posters above.

Martin maybe offers a bit more if we can ever get him back in the back row, but there’s just too many workers there atm.

Also sound like a broken record but we could do a lot worse than Schneider in the halves positions, assuming he’s not already signed elsewhere.

We would have a decent reserves team across all positions too but I just worry we have too many "good" players and not enough star quality here.
