Fair point about the defending in the line Seth. I don’t know if there’s ever any stats or research gone into the intensity of runs in various positions.

Interesting that you mention encouraging passing from a young age. I think often we forget how important grass roots is.

A lot probably depends on what KR do at fullback. Rumour was Hiku was signed to play there, but he’s a far better centre and now SKD confirmed retirement too. Assuming it could currently be Abdul and May with Lewis at fullback which still leaves Schneider the odd one out.[/quote]
Haven’t they signed Gildart to cover centre.

It happens all too often in junior development, if you're a strong athlete why pass to your winger when you can score 4 on your own. Theres not enough amateur coaching with a development first approach.

I’m a few years removed from involvement in youth rugby now but I agree wholeheartedly.

It will be interesting to see what happens next re: signings.

If GH confounds expectations and announces four big signings - the equivalent of Clyde, Carroll, Mullins and Mears - it would certainly sell a few season tickets, but still a very big gamble depending on the personnel. Not sure who is available.

Top SL level signings (e.g. Croft) with transfer fees would certainly show intent, and might be less of a gamble.

I'm sure we'll all be massively disappointed if it is only second string SL players and projects from lower leagues in Australia and the championship. I can't really believe the club would settle for this, unless there is a hope of bringing in more quality players mid-season like Lauitiiti or Garbutt. It would be good if we managed to unearth the next Field and French though.
